John’s professional background is in engineering, where he developed expertise in the design of buildings and products to withstand extreme loads such as earthquakes, bomb-blasts and crashes. For the past decade, he has been closely involved with developing business strategy for Arup and has developed experience of operating in China in the course of that activity. John has recently been personally involved in projects such as the design of the world’s first Eco-City at Dongtan (near Shanghai) and the acquisition of MG-Rover by the Nanjing Automobile Corporation (NAC).
